Enter an open panna, and a close panna if you have one. The page checks each panna, gives its ank and type, forms the jodi, the final ank and both sangams, and shows the return on a stake at whatever rates you type in.
The arithmetic behind it
To get a panna’s ank, total the three digits and drop everything but the last one: 137 adds up to 11, which leaves ank 1. Put the open ank in front of the close ank and that is the jodi; a close of 268 adds up to 16, ank 6, and the full line comes out as 137-16-268. A half sangam joins one side’s panna to the other side’s ank, a full sangam joins the two pannas, and the cut ank comes from adding five to the ank and keeping the last digit.
The return column is nothing more than stake times rate: what a winning bet of that type would pay, with no comment on how likely a win is. A single ank is a one-in-ten chance and a jodi is one chance in a hundred, and that gap is why the rates sit below the true odds. The rates and payouts guide goes through this in detail.
